The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday raided the residence of retired Executive Engineer’s residence in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara town and seized crucial documents related to the case.

As per reports, a team of officers of Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) led by DySP rank officer raided the residence of Bashir Ahmad Shah in Bijbehara and conducted searches. Before retirement, Shah was holding the post of Executive Engineer PHE Division Bijbehara.

“Residence of Bashir Ahmad ShaH, former Executive Engineer PHE Division Bijbehara Some documents related to the case has been seized,” anACB official told Et over phone, however he wished anonymity.

According to sources, Shah is accused of having floated norms while allotting contracts and executing works in different areas of PHE Division Bijbehara.

They said that the tainted engineer has also procured pipes and other material on high rates.

“Officials of PHE Division Bijbehara have also committed serious irregularities while realigning the pipeline on Kishtwar-Anantnag road from Semthantop to Anantnag,” they said.

Sources revealed to et that the works of over Rs.3.5 Cr have been allotted to some blue-eyed contractors without floating tenders. The officers have also prepared fake bills and withdrawn huge amounts on the nameof restoring schemes affected by 2014 floods.

In December 2018, a team of vigilance now ACB had raided theCivil Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division office in Bijbehara Anantnagdistrict and had seized some important documents

Raid was conducted after the Vigilance received complaints about large scale irregularities committed post 2014 floods.

It was also alleged that irregularities were committed in execution of 1 MGD Rambirpora-Kehribal Water Supply Scheme, which has been taken up under NABARD at a cost of Rs 21.71 crore, Hassanpora-Tavella water supply scheme, Kistwar-Semthan water supply scheme and in other high budgeted schemes.
